Add in the complexities of early stage and pre-public companies and it can become overwhelming. Particularly due to many trying to become instant experts in a single week to attempt to compare competing job offers that straddle different company stages.

Totally agree. A "crash course" usually gets triggered when you're getting an offer, and then at best you are only getting half the information.
